the night before we were supposed to leave to drive to kentucky to visit my family for christmas, we got a call from C saying that she thought she was going into labor and was on her way to the hospital. She’s only 27 weeks along, so there was panic involved all the way around. We sat around for about an hour biting our fingernails and chomping at the bit and wondering if we were going to need to buy plane tickets. Then, not wanting to be a pest, but wanting her to know that we were still there for her, I sent her a text message and she wrote back to say that the baby was fine and they weren’t sure why she was experiencing those symptoms, but they gave her some medicine and were keeping her overnight for observation. She called a little later to reassure us again that everything was okay and i called her again from kentucky the next day and she was home already. she’s supposed to just take it easy (maybe bedrest? it wasn’t really clear to me.) for awhile and keep an eye out for more symptoms.
i think i’d feel better if i had a hospital bag all packed and ready to go. eep!

Oh my, I am so sorry to hear you have now been subject to the scariness of early labor! We were in the hospital at 26weeks and we had contractions stopped twice with medication. But, as you know, our little weasel made it two days past his due date despite my ongoing contractions 😉 I do remember being told to chill out the first time, not to do too much exercise, make sure I am drinking plenty of water and not to get too stressed out. Apparently all these things can cause the fake labor contractions called braxton-hicks. The good news is that you can have contractions out to wazoo and everything is fine as long as you are not dilating. Ok, maybe this is too much info for your blog. Let me know if you want to talk more about this. Hang in there!
Thinking of you guys as things get closer. I hope you guys had a nice Christmas. We had a very nice one. We did some traveling as usual but not to far, just lots of stops. My parents live in Watertown, my in laws in Baraboo, and his cousins and Platevile. I’m keeping you guys in my prayers and thoughts. I’ve been looking for a new note so I’m glad you shared that with everyone. Happy New Year! This will be a great year for you and hopefuly us as well.
